An ecological recycling and agricultural fertigation system demonstration project in Qingzhen city, a county-level city under the administration of Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, passed its acceptance check on Jan 13.
With a total investment of 2.9 million yuan ($0.45 million), the local Chinese Tea Expo Park has built a fertigation system covering an area of 300 mu (20 hectares), including one irrigation hub, one fertilization system, 5,670 meters of water transmission pipe network, one automatic irrigation control system and a 500-cubic-meter water pool.
Due to the project, the replaced ratio of organic fertilizer for chemical fertilizer in the planting area has reached 20 percent, and the use of pesticides has been reduced by 50 percent.
The project is expected to provide more employment opportunities for the masses, promote local economic development, improve benefits and improve local companies' production process.
It can also drive the development of the local tea industry and tourism and help farmers and poor households in Ludi village – where the expo park is located – to increase their incomes.
