Guizhou Ruisen Agricultural Science and Technology Development Co and the planting industry center in Qingzhen -- a county level city in Southwest China's Guizhou province -- on Nov 2-4 jointly held a training program on cultivating plants for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
The training program -- targeting local farmers -- included standard planting methods, management, processing, storage and prevention and control of diseases under a forest canopy for the perennial herb Gastrodia elata, used widely in TCM.
Experts were invited to give guidance and opinions on the policies, development directions and planting for TCM, as well as helping farmers to develop the cultivation of the Gastrodia elata.
After on-site training and encouragement from experts, trainees expressed their confidence about establishing a Gastrodia elata industry in the area.
Qingzhen city has prioritized the development of the TCM industry and included the cultivation of TCM in the city's main agricultural industry plan.
The training aimed at achieving large-scale and scientific TCM management, to lay the foundations for the healthy and rapid development of the city's agricultural industry.
