The agriculture and rural affairs bureau of Qingzhen -- a county-level city in Southwest China's Guizhou province -- has focused on the construction of a credit system targeting local farmers and enterprises in recent years, so as to promote rural socioeconomic development.
In the year to date, the bureau has provided credit discounts to 2,057 agricultural enterprises and farmers.
Qingzhen has given financial rewards and subsidies to creditworthy farmers who have participated in the restructuring of agriculture and to first-rate enterprises engaged in the development of the agricultural industry.
By establishing the credit discount system, the bureau has attracted credit funds to the agricultural sector, given full play to the guiding role of financial funds, as well as accelerated the upgrading and development of the rural economy.
The bureau has so far distributed 591,248 yuan ($88,885) in annual financial rewards and subsidies to support credit discount funds, since the start of the year.
That of these, credit discounts for seven agricultural enterprises totaled 247,655 yuan and there were credit discounts for 2,050 farmers of 343,592 yuan.
These had promoted the development of local industries and increased farmers' incomes.
