Qingzhen, a county-level city in Southwest China's Guizhou province, has taken a series of imaginative measures to promote poverty alleviation work in its region, according to local officials.

The emergency management bureau of Qingzhen had helped local poor households increase their incomes though beekeeping and honey production.

Since the implementation of the beekeeping project, poor households in the local Yinchang and Youcai villages have collected more than 400 kilograms of honey in June this year and sold it a price of 300 yuan ($42.89) per kg.

Shang Yexue, director of the bureau, has also paid attention to kiwifruit planting, management, marketing and sales in Yinchang village. He contacted agricultural experts to help solve difficulties in developing the kiwifruit industry and other officials of the bureau have helped local cooperatives and growers to expand their sales channels.

Meanwhile, the bureau is combining poverty alleviation with the construction of beautiful villages, part of the rural village infrastructure improvement program.

Officials said the bureau has supplied funds to help Youcai village build 7.28 kilometers of roads facilitating mechanical farming, renovate power supply lines, reconstruct 90 public toilets and install 110 solar street panel lights.

Additionally, the bureau also carried out visits to poor households to investigate the village's industrial development projects, existing poverty alleviation work there and progress in the construction of beautiful villages.
