Since entering the flood season this year, Qingzhen, a county-level city in Southwest China's Guizhou province, has focused on the prevention and mitigation of flood and drought disaster risks, as well as actively carried out flood control of its reservoirs.

The Qingzhen water administration bureau has set up three safety inspection teams for flood and drought disaster prevention work. It has also conducted special inspections of 22 existing reservoirs and three reservoirs under construction and implemented repairs and renovations in response to 14 problems found during inspections. At present, 10 repairs have been completed and the remaining four are being rectified.

Meanwhile, the installation of safety bulletin boards for 20 reservoirs of type II and above level in Qingzhen has been completed.

In addition, the bureau has organized a rescue team and stocked emergency supplies -- including 18 water pumps, 16 submersible pumps, 70 sets of life jackets and other flood prevention materials.

Moreover, the bureau has carried out material reserves and emergency drills in accordance with the requirements of the emergency plan, to ensure that personnel, vehicles and materials can be deployed in a timely fashion when a sudden flood or drought disaster occurs.
