Guizhou Machinery Industry School

Guizhou Machinery Industry School was founded in 1981. It is affiliated to the education department of Guizhou province and is the national key vocational school, the provincial demonstration secondary vocational and technical school, and the construction project unit of national secondary vocational education reform and development. It has built a government-funded numerical control training base of national vocational education and a vehicle maintenance training base. It is the only school which has two national training bases in Guizhou province. It was assigned the task by the Ministry of Education to train technical talents in the specialty area of NC machining technology. It is chosen to be the only national key vocational school of machinery industry in Guizhou province by China Machinery Industry Education Association and Mechanical Education Development Center. NC machining technology is the featured major of national machinery industry schools. It initiated the effort to set up education group of equipment manufacture in Guizhou in May 2013 and has since served as its director-general.

The school has two campuses: one is located in the Nanming district of Guiyang city and the other in the east of Qingzhen Vocational Education Town. The total area of the two campuses is about 388,498.22 square meters. The total construction area of the new campus will be 240,000 square meters after completion. There are more than 6,000 full-time students in school. The library has about 120,000 books and the teaching equipment assets are worth more than 27 million yuan($3.85 million). The school has 219 teachers. Approximately 34.7 percent of them are associate professors and senior lecturers. More than 75 percent of them are double-qualified teachers. 15.5 percent of them have a master's degree. There are 3 deputy directors and 2 members of Higher Vocational Education Teaching Guidance Committee of National Machinery. There are also 3 national referees of the numerical control competition. The teachers have participated in 2 national scientific projects, 5 provincial scientific projects and 30 school-enterprise cooperation projects, winning several second and third prizes in those projects. They have published more than 400 papers. According to the development requirement of new-type industrialization in Guizhou, the school has established NC machining technology as the leading major. The major system includes machinofacture, automobile manufacturing and maintenance, electrical and mechanical equipment installation and maintenance, welding technique, Chinese medicine pharmacy, computerized plane design, tourism and logistics. The 23 majors cover areas of machinery, automobile service, engineering machinery, tourism and computer information.
