Guanshanhu-produced teas win top honors at Great Taste Awards

Two teas from Guizhou Baichun Suntree Tea Plantation in Guiyang's Guanshanhu district have won star ratings at the 2026 Great Taste Awards, an internationally acclaimed food and beverage competition.

Baiya Green Tea earned a two-star rating, placing it among the top 10 percent of entries, while the Crested Ibis Tea received a one-star rating, recognizing the quality of the plantation's teas and their growing international competitiveness.

Established in 1994, the Great Taste Awards attracted more than 15,000 entries from 116 countries and regions this year, with more than 800 chefs, food critics, retailers, and industry professionals conducting blind tastings to evaluate flavor, texture, aroma, and overall balance via a judging process that lasts more than 105 days.

Established in Guanshanhu's Zhuchang town in 2005, the plantation has followed an ecological approach for more than two decades, using zero chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and growth hormones and instead opting for organic fertilizer, biological pest control, and manual weeding to maintain soil and tea-plant health. Its products have passed 515 SGS pesticide-residue tests and received more than 610 related Eurofins certifications, alongside multiple domestic quality and industry honors.

The plantation has also linked tea production with rural vitalization, providing more than 1,000 local jobs annually and developing smart tea plantations, digital agriculture, and tea tourism.

It said the Great Taste recognition will help strengthen its international brand profile, expand access to premium markets, and increase consumer confidence in its products.
