May Day tourism surges in Guanshanhu

From May 1 to 5, 2024, Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received a total of 607,900 visits across all of its attractions, marking a 15.5-percent increase compared to the previous year.

The district also achieved tourism revenue of 364 million yuan ($50.39 million) during this period, showing a significant 17.8-percent year-on-year growth.

During the five-day holiday, a variety of vibrant cultural and sports events unfolded in Guanshanhu, including roadside music concerts, electronic music festivals, the World soccer lifetime achievement award ceremony, outdoor flash mobs, and dance performances, all of which created a lively festive atmosphere.

In terms of consumer market trends, the district saw a prosperous consumer market during the holiday, with diverse options for holiday spending. The district's major shopping districts all saw a rise in popularity, resulting in increased foot traffic and sales figures.

Major supermarkets and commercial complexes organized promotions such as discounts, consumer lotteries, and other sales activities to draw in crowds and boost spending.

Over the holiday, all shopping centers in the district attracted 2.3 million visitors, up by 17.63 percent year-on-year. They achieved a total sales revenue of 188.53 million yuan, showing a 14.64-percent increase compared to the previous year.
