Guanshanhu district is one of the few urban areas in China named after a lake. The district has three lakes - Guanshan, Baihua and Yueshan - in its administrative area, making it an important and protected drinking water source in Guiyang. Guanshanhu district is the first modern service industry pilot zone in Guizhou's national inland open economy pilot zone. Working with a high level of openness to the outside world, the district takes high-end consumption and mid-to-high-end manufacturing as its two engines, and strives to promote the high-quality development of modern industries such as big data, health, finance, conventions and exhibitions, business, tourism, and modern manufacturing. Its aim is to become a high-end consumer goods distribution center, an imported goods distribution center, an international middle and high-end consumer goods industrial center and a trade integration demonstration zone, and to take a leading position in economic opening-up. The district has played a pioneering role in the development of the modern service industry in Guizhou.

In recent years, there has been sound momentum in the economic and social development of Guanshanhu district, with continuously improved economic structures, development vitality, quality and efficiency. As the core area of Guiyang, it plays an increasingly important role in leading, demonstrating and driving the development of the city.
