On Dec 23, the 190th birth anniversary of education pioneer Li Duanfen, Xingtan Park in Guiyang's Guanshanhu district officially opened.
The opening of the park marks the completion and operation of phase 1 of the Guanshanhu greenway and its related facilities.
Xingtan Park is built around Guiyang No 1 Middle School, which was initiated by Li, and is located in the center area of the Guanshanhu greenway. It is an important part of Guanshanhu's greening project, and has a total length of about 2 kilometers, along with a total area of about 60,000 square meters.
The park was formed by connecting seven pocket parks: Chunhua Garden, Qiushi Garden, Yucui Garden, Jingwei Garden, Runze Garden, Lifeng Garden, and Pushi Garden.
In September 2022, construction on the Guanshanhu greenway began. The project includes the construction and renovation of several pedestrian greenways and cycling paths, as well as the design and construction of mini parks with pocket elements.
The completed pedestrian greenways and cycling paths include those on Lincheng East Road, Changling South Road, Yangguan Avenue, Qianlingshan Road, and Jinyang Avenue. Of the completed pocket parks, nine were newly built, and three were renovated.
The greenway now connects adjacent residential areas, urban landmarks, commercial districts, and complexes, serving approximately 150,000 residents.
Next, Guanshanhu will initiate construction on phase 2 of the greenway project, which will center on creating high-quality recreational and fitness areas near Yueshan Lake.
