Town in Guanshanhu celebrates traditional Miao festival

Zhuchang town in Guanshanhu district of Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, celebrated its annual Daohua Festival on Aug 25-26.

The Daohua Festival in Zhuchang town is held on the 10th and 11th days of the lunar calendar in July. It has a long history and a special cultural significance, making it one of the most influential folk activities and important ethnic festivals in the area.

On the day of the festival, the Miao ethnic group gather together to hold a grand ancestral worship ceremony. With the sound of firecrackers, the hoisting of flags, and much singing and dancing, they pray for good weather, abundant harvests, and peace and happiness.2.jpg

During the festival, various activities focusing on product promotions, sightseeing, and cultural exchanges were carried out.

These included the Miao king worshipping rites, fishing in the paddy fields, food markets, and a boxing championship, showcasing the town's vitality.

Moving forward, Zhuchang will develop various tourism activities, products, and interactive experiences for autumn, aiming to promote the development of tourism throughout the region.
