Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, aims to revive its tourism industry in 2023 and give full play to its advantage as a national tourism hub city, according to Guiyang's 2023 government work report, which was released on Feb 8.
In 2023, Guiyang will promote the construction of the Tianhetan scenic spot as a national tourism resort, promote the reform of operations in Qianlingshan Park and Hebin Park, and start the construction of Zhaoguodong ancient human site park. It will also revitalize more than 10 idle and inefficient tourism projects and make them profitable.
It will develop its local tourism while expanding trans-province tourism and resuming inbound tourism. In 2023, Guiyang aims to increase the number of tourism companies above designated size by 60, and achieve a year-on-year increase of 15 percent in tourism-based overnight stays, and 10 percent in per capita travel expenses, respectively.
Guiyang will strengthen its tourism sources in the Yangtze River Delta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area, and the Chengdu-Chongqing region. It will also identify the gap in the domestic tourism market, explore the international tourism market, and resume and open more domestic and international air routes in an orderly fashion.
In addition, by relying on online travel agents such as Mafengwo, Guiyang will cooperate with other cities and prefectures to build a one-stop public service platform for tourism as another method to recover its tourism market.
