Guiyang residents go on fitness run

The 52nd Guiyang National Fitness New Year Run took place in Guanshanhu Park in the city of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – on Jan 7.

It's a sports event with a comparatively long history in Guiyang, with the first run debuting in the city in 1972.

The route of the latest race followed the Guanshanhu Park Loop, with nearly 2,000 enthusiasts striking out on the 6-kilometer run.

Ren Peng, a student majoring in physical education at Guizhou Normal University, crossed the line first to win the men's group.

In order to ensure the safety of the runners, the organizers set up three energy supply points to provide drinking water and beverages. At the same time, public security, medical, rescue and other groups were on hand to provide support.
