Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has used an urban greenway it built to showcase the city's beauty and vitality.
The greenway is a new urban demonstration belt approximately 10.5 kilometers long that surrounds Guanshanhu Lake.
It is built along Guanshanhu Park, connecting to Shubo Avenue to the east, Qianlingshan Road to the south, Jinyang Avenue to the west, and Lincheng East Road to the north. It winds through Guanshanhu Park, Guizhou Provincial Museum, Guizhou Provincial Library, Guiyang International Financial Center, and Guiyang Convention and Exhibition City.
It serves about 150,000 surrounding residents and connects 15 parks and three business circles. Construction on the greenway mainly involves the reconstruction of 26 kilometers of sidewalk, 25 kilometers of bicycle lanes, five parks and 17 multi-purpose facilities.
Guanshanhu's urban greenway is an important achievement in adhering to sustainable development, becoming a modern city and meeting people's needs.
The district plans to pursue both development and ecological conservation, fully leverage the ecological strength of its surrounding areas, improve its layout, promoting scientific awareness and green and sustainable development.
Efforts will also be made to provide more high-quality ecological products to citizens and advance to the next level of ecological civilization.
