In recent years, Guanshanhu district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been continuously improving its sports facilities and has organized various types of fitness activities for residents as its sports sector thrives.
Since last year, the district has organized 50 sporting events at all levels, including the First Guiyang Community Sports Meet, with more than 13,000 athletes participating.
In the past year, the Guanshanhu district culture, sports, radio, television and tourism bureau has invested more than 7 million yuan ($1.04 million) in sports lottery public welfare funds and district-level financial funds.
As a result, eight multi-purpose basketball courts, 20 path projects, and four pilot projects for smart sports facilities, as well as three basketball courts, one badminton court, two cage football pitches and four sports rooms, have been built.
The total area of sports venues in the district is currently 1.43 million square meters, while the per capita sports venue area is 2.22 sq m per person.
People in Guanshanhu are actively participating in the nationwide fitness program and enjoying better health and happiness by engaging in physical activity.
