Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been continuously improving its environment.
In the first half of this year, 100 percent of the district's surface water was of excellent quality. The proportion of days with good air quality and the safe and standardized disposal rate of hazardous waste and medical waste were both 100 percent.
Rural sewage treatment has also been promoted. Since 2016, 45 of the district's 49 administrative villages have established centralized sewage treatment facilities. In the other four villages, rural sewage treatment projects are 45.82 percent complete.
By adhering to ecological priorities in urban construction, Guanshanhu has been making the skies and waters clearer and providing safe habitats for more and more animals.
Not long ago, Guanshan Lake Park welcomed its first black swans. They are covered in dark brown feathers and often swim and play on the lake, twisting their long necks, spreading their wings, and frolicking in the water.
In addition to black swans, wild birds such as wild ducks, moorhens and egrets can be seen on the lake in the summer.
Guanshanhu is also building two greenway circles with lengths of 46 kilometers and 44 km, respectively, focusing on ecological health, humanistic education, community life, and smart technology.
