During this year's May Day holiday from April 30 to May 4, the Guanshanhu district of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – transported 270,446 passengers on its railways, roads and waterway.
Guiyang North Railway Station saw 214,002 tourists depart and it received 211,089 tourists during the holiday. The newly-opened Guiyang urban express railway transported 979 passengers in Guanshanhu district.
Guanshanhu also received a total of 359,050 visits and reported total tourism revenue of 187 million yuan ($28.13 million) during the break. Its scenic spots, resorts, libraries and museums were particularly popular with tourists.
Guanshanhu's five main shopping malls and supermarkets achieved total sales of 45.18 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.8 percent. Its shopping malls, supermarkets, restaurants and car dealers reported a combined 122 million yuan during the holiday, a year-on-year increase of 2 percent.
