The winning works of a photography and video competition themed on environmental protection in the Guanshanhu district of Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – were revealed at Guanshanhu Park on Feb 15.
The competition kicked off in December last year and received more than 460 individual photographs, 150 groups of photos and 60 videos.
All the works were said to capture the harmonious coexistence between man and nature in Guanshanhu district.
After online voting and on-site judging, the competition selected one first-prize winner, three second-prize winners, eight third-prize winners, 30 excellence-prize winners and 104 finalist winners of photography works.
The competition also presented prizes for photography works that won netizen popularity, as well as for excellent videos.
Over the past five years, Guanshanhu is said to have been implementing the national green concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" to protect the natural environment.
Currently, Guanshanhu Park is home to 78 species of birds and more than 600 varieties of plants. Plans are for the park to create more islands as heron protection areas and make more efforts in its biodiversity protection.
