The Guanshanhu district of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – offered 5.88 million yuan ($924,894) in grants from a municipal big data fund to 22 resident companies on Dec 9.
Among the companies, 15 were given grants for their improvements to management, two were handed grants for brand cultivation and one was awarded for its digital transformation. In addition, one firm received a grant for the construction of a public service platform, six got grants for business expansion and one got funds for its big data integration.
Preliminary estimates are that in 2021, Guanshanhu's business revenue from internet, software and information technology services reached 5.1 billion yuan and the district assisted two big data companies to expand, with business revenues topping 100 million yuan each.
Moreover, the district helped establish 20 big data integration projects for companies, assisted 230 companies to integrate with big data and installed 1,756 5G base stations – showing the way forward for the development of its digital economy.
