The Guanshanhu district of Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on July 30 signed contracts to become the host venue of the Guiyang Strawberry Festival and the Guiyang Guanshanhu Snow International Beer Festival for the following three years.
The two upcoming festivals will be part of the ongoing 2021 Love Guanshanhu Tourism Culture Festival, which kicked off on April 29. They are expected to help drive the development of the district's tourism industry and night-time economy, boosting the cultural lives of locals.
He Xiaoli, director of the district's publicity department, told the signing ceremony that Guanshanhu was prioritizing the development of its cultural tourism and cultural creativity industries. It has hosted a series of leading national cultural and tourism activities, such as big data and ecological civilization conferences and the Alcoholic Beverage Expo.
The ceremony also reviewed the development of the Love Guanshanhu Tourism Culture Festival over the last five years via videos, and made recommendations for the forthcoming Guiyang Strawberry Festival and the Guiyang Guanshanhu Snow International Beer Festival.
During the ceremony, a strategic contract was also signed between the district's media center and the Guiyang Guanshanhu Snow International Beer Festival, paving the way for sponsor China Resources Snow Breweries to invest 10 million yuan ($1.55 million) annually from 2021 to 2023 to improve the festival's image and influence.
The district has become committed to developing a series of regional cultural brands, holding such events as lantern shows and temple fairs in winter as well as cultural tourism festivals in summer. These events have continued to become increasingly popular, boosting the local economy and the provincial capital.
