Guanshanhu district of Guiyang - capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province - and the Multicolor Art and National Costume Museum recently held an embroidery class, attracting the participation of more than 40 female embroiderers.
The training class is part of Guanshanhu's series of training programs for women. In the future, the district will train more women, allowing them to learn the techniques involved in handicrafts and other intangible cultural heritage, improve their work skills and be self-employed at home.
During the training class, the female embroiderers visited the museum's exhibition of traditional costumes and accessories of the Miao, Bouyei, Dong, Yao and Sui ethnic groups.
The female embroiderers then learned about the designs, stitches, techniques and color matching of Miao embroidery. Under the instruction of masters, the embroiderers practiced their skills.
In the future, Guanshanhu's government departments will continue to provide more vocational skill training platforms for women, offer more job opportunities and promote their re-employment.
