Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has completed 18 out of 21 goals set to improve people's livelihoods in 2020, according to an announcement from the district's standing committee of the National People's Congress on Jan 14.
The district has seen 10,856 people find employment in the urban area, which is more than the annual target of 10,850 people.
The underground passageway at the crossing of Lincheng East Road and Changling North Road was put into use on Nov 16. The passage has successfully solved the intersection's traffic issues and increased the traffic capacity by 33 percent.
Guanshanhu also added 1,685 parking spaces and 200,000 square meters of green space, renovated 10 alleys and built and renovated 50 convenience stores. The district also built and renovated toilets in rural and urban areas.
In addition, Guanshanhu opened eight new kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools, providing education for 6,500 students. It also built 24-hour self-serve reading rooms and education centers to enrich residents' cultural life.
