A total of 623 residents from Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, volunteered to donate their blood during a voluntary blood donation activity held from Jan 11 to 13.
Before blood collection, nurses conducted physical examinations and blood screenings for volunteers to ensure that they were eligible donors.
At the event's conclusion, the total amount of blood donated was more than 173,600 milliliters.
By donating their blood, the 623 donors helped dispel some common myths and misconceptions about voluntary blood donations and provided life-saving blood to those in need.
Blood donation is effective in promoting blood circulation and reducing blood viscosity. Blood donors have a lower risk of cardiovascular issues.
