Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has made efforts in civilization construction this year through the improvement of the city's image, the quality of its citizens and the tourism environment.
Statistics show that the district had invested more than 90 million yuan ($13.77 million) to improve its urban infrastructure this year.
The district has completed the renovation of 30 back streets and 20 public toilets. Its urban area has also added 220,000 square meters of new green land, and the integration of urban and rural sanitation development has been completed.
In terms of improving its residents' quality, the district has created service posts for volunteers in railway stations, bus stations and scenic spots to encourage residents to participate in volunteer activities. Data show that the district had organized approximately 10,000 volunteer activities that saw the participation of nearly 100,000 residents.
Also, the district has made great efforts to solve outstanding problems related to tourism services. This year, the district has inspected more than 20,000 businesses and handled more than 90 tourism complaints.
