The retail sales of consumer goods in Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, reached 14.34 billion yuan in the third quarter – a year-on-year increase of more than 15 percent, according to statistics from the district's commerce and investment bureau.
This year, the district has given utility subsidies of 990,000 yuan ($150,520) to 10 commercial and trade enterprises greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The district has also formulated several supporting policies to help trade and commerce enterprises. A total of 1.39 million yuan has been invested in 45 trade and commerce businesses to advance their stable development.
In addition, the district has guided commercial and trade enterprises to create innovative business models and make full use of intelligent technologies, expanding online sales channels.
Sales at Tpmall – a large shopping mall in Guanshanhu – have surged due to a series of promotional activities led by the local government. Its average growth rate of turnover in the third quarter was 8 percent, and the average customer flow has reached 450,000 a month.
The district would continue to organize a series of promotional activities and exhibitions to encourage consumer spending.
The district will also support online business enterprises such as JD and Alibaba to set up unmanned convenience stores and e-commerce convenience stores in communities to strengthen the consumer market.
