According to the local commerce and investment promotion bureau, sales revenue of crucial retail and catering businesses in Guiyang's Guanshanhu district surged during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 8. Guiyang is the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
Data shows that nine enterprises' sales revenue – including Yonghui Supermarket, Guiyang Topmall and Guiyang IKEA – reached 63.03 million yuan ($9.42 million), a year-on-year increase of 21.93 percent.
The bureau carried out a series of promotional activities before the holiday to attract consumers, promoting the district's steady and rapid growth of the service industry.
During the holiday, supermarkets, shopping malls and automobile sales enterprises in the district attracted consumers by using publicity posters and offering on-site demonstrations, among other marketing tactics.
Driven by various promotional events and activities organized across the district, demand for essential consumer goods such as food and clothing grew steadily. At the same time, sales in other industries – including catering, leisure and entertainment – surged notably.
