Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has made considerable progress in green development over the past 20 years by balancing economic development and ecological improvement.
Guanshanhu Park covers more than 367 hectares and is an excellent place for leisure and entertainment in all four seasons. It is a haven for more than 600 kinds of plants and more than 70 wild bird species and boasts both mountains and stunning waterways.
In recent years, the local government has implemented a series of projects to help the park attract more tourists from inside and outside the province. These include the comprehensive management of the aquatic environment, the upgrading of plastic fitness trails and the reconstruction of main entrances.
Also, Guanshanhu has vigorously promoted the city’s ecological strategy of park construction. To date, the district has built 183 parks of various types.
By the end of last year, the green space rate of Guanshanhu’s built-up area had reached 43.77 percent, and the green coverage rate reached 45.08 percent.
Officials said the district would adhere to a green development model to make the city more livable and a memorable tourism destination.
