Guanshanhu district -- in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- has made great progress in the field of education over the past 20 years through comprehensive reforms, the introduction of quality educational resources and the balanced development of compulsory education.
The district has continuously integrated its government budget and resources to increase investment in education.
Data showed that the annual investment in education of the district increased from 350 million yuan ($51.7 million) in 2013 to 1.08 billion yuan in 2019.
Currently, the district has 160 schools at all levels -- including 78 kindergartens, 48 primary schools and 12 middle schools. The 160 schools have 87,596 students and 7,712 teaching and administrative staff members.
In addition, the district has actively introduced high-quality educational resources from developed regions. It has cooperated with more than 10 leading schools in developed regions, including Beijing and Shanghai, to set up schools and to optimize education resources.
After two decades of effort, the district's scores on entrance exams for public junior high school and senior high school are among the top in Guiyang city. The ranking of the district in the city's education quality inspections has increased from fifth in 2017 to the second in 2018.
The district has not only attached importance to the quality of its teaching, but also paid attention to the all-round development of its students.
In 2015, the district was named as the first national pilot area for campus football in Guizhou by the Ministry of Education.
