Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is planning to create a new urban development pattern through the construction of new road networks.

As the core area of Guiyang, the district will positively promote the interconnectivity of urban roads with nearby Yunyan district, Qingzhen city and Guian New Area.

According to Li Yuanjun, deputy director of the district's housing and urban rural development bureau, Guanshanhu has made remarkable achievements in both infrastructure construction and industrial development over the past 20 years.

To date, the built-up area of the district covers 68 square kilometers, and the total length of municipal roads open to traffic exceeds 300 kilometers.

The district has also put effort into the construction of rural roads. Data shows that 108 kilometers of rural roads connecting 36 villages were completed to promote poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.

In addition, traffic facilities such as bicycle lanes, pedestrian overpasses and underground passages have been newly built as part of urban development to meet the travel needs of residents.

Li said the district will build itself into a core area of Guizhou through the optimization and upgrading of infrastructure, high-end industries and green landscapes.

Meanwhile, the district will construct a modern transportation network involving slow traffic systems and intelligent transportation as well as pedestrian-and-vehicle separation systems.
