Guanshanhu district in Guiyang city -- capital of China's southwestern Guizhou province -- received a total of 261,500 tourists during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday that ended on June 27, generating income of 77 million yuan ($10.89 million), according to the local culture, tourism, sports, radio and television bureau.
Bureau officials reported that rural tourism and ecotourism saw robust growth during the holiday, with self-driving and short-distance tours proving to be the mainstream of the tourism market and the beautiful scenery of the district drawing many to come and visit.
Officials said that the district strengthened its management of attractions and conducted safety inspections of operating sites in order to ensure tourism safety. It also guided tourist attractions on their emergency plans for the flood season. The district also urged tourist attractions to rectify any problems found in inspections and under supervision quickly, in order to create the best possible environment for visitors.
In addition, the 2020 Guiyang Import and Export Online Fair kicked off in Guanshanhu during the holiday, attracting many visitors and enterprises. The district issued shopping vouchers worth 2 million yuan and staged various promotions to effectively promote economic development.
Officials said that the district will further consolidate the foundations for developing the tourism industry, to accelerate the recovery of the sector. They added that it would also highlight a range of mid to high-end cultural tourism products, in order to promote the integrated development of culture, tourism, business and exhibitions.
