A grand lantern show and temple fair will kick off at Southwest International Trade City in Guanshanhu district on Jan 28, according to a recent reported in the Guiyang Daily.
Hosted by the local government, the event is held every year since 2011 as a cultural bonanza to greet the Spring Festival -- and has proved the most popular event in Guiyang, capital city of Guizhou province.
This year's fair, running from Jan 28 to Feb 8, will feature a light ceremony, lantern show and temple fair. Much of the preparation work for the big event is now moving into high gear, according to the organizing committee.
The lantern show has 70 groups of lanterns created by 12 famous designers, showcasing Guiyang's urban development and cultural life.
During the temple fair, participants will be able to watch wonderful performances, taste delicious food and shop for the Chinese New Year.
In addition, the official publicity platform for the event has opened to the public. People can download the mobile app or follow the WeChat account both named "观山湖观天下" to learn the latest information.
