A total of 11 training courses were held in different towns and communities for more than 400 women from October to November this year. Officials said the training -- involving household management, embroidery skills and some cultural courses -- will help women broaden their employment prospects and enrich their spiritual and cultural lives.
In addition to providing skills training, the women's federation of Guanshanhu helped women in poverty participate in handicraft competitions and programs to gain bonuses and promotions.
To date, the federation has distributed 45,500 yuan ($6,494) in funds to left-behind children, women and empty-nest elderly. A total of 120,000 yuan was invested to provide free medical examinations for 200 women.
Officials said in future, the federation plans to invest more in vulnerable groups -- including impoverished women and children, single mothers and senior residents, encouraging them devote themselves to the rural revitalization.
