Guanshanhu district focuses on improving livelihoods

Guanshanhu district in Guiyang has made efforts in implementing its "10 practical things" measure to improve the livelihood of local residents since this year. As of Nov 6, the district has completed seven practical things designated on the municipal government's agenda and four practical things on the district-level, with the overall progress reaching more than 75 percent.

It was reported that the 10 practical things involved pertinent issues closely related to people's livelihoods, covering the improvement of employment, entrepreneurship, education, medical treatment, infrastructure, ecological environment, and transportation.

The district cultivated one municipal start-up incubator and added over 10 entrepreneurial teams. A total of three old residential communities were upgraded. The district also completed 336 mu (22.4 hectares) of afforestation this year. It strove to adjust the local agricultural structure, accumulating 9,232 mu of land for planting economic crops with high output value.

As for efforts on the district-level, the rural drinking water safety emergency projects in Baihuahu town, Jinhua town, and Zhuchang town were completed. The district added 100,000 square meters of green land, as well as completed the transformation and upgrading project of Guanshan Lake Park.

In addition to the "10 practical things", Guanshanhu district also made efforts in other aspects to improve people's livelihoods. By the third quarter of this year, the district created 9,798 urban jobs and completed 2,671 rural transfer jobs, achieving 90.3 percent and 92.55 percent of the annual targets respectively. It opened six schools and kindergartens, including the Guiyang primary and middle school affiliated to East China Normal University and the No 17 Kindergartens of Guanshanhu district.
