In the past, Xifeng's township health centers had limited diagnostic and treatment capabilities, forcing residents with complex conditions to travel to the county seat for medical care. In August 2025, Xifeng integrated resources from county-level hospitals, township health centers, and village clinics to establish a countywide medical consortium covering all three levels, making healthcare more accessible to local residents.

"I used to have to travel to the county seat for physical therapy. Now, I can get it at the township health center. It's much more convenient," said a resident surnamed Tao of Liuchang town in Xifeng.
Led by Xifeng County People's Hospital, the consortium coordinates medical resources across the three levels. Measures such as integrating departments, sharing medical equipment, sending doctors to work at grassroots facilities, and providing professional training have helped strengthen local healthcare services. Xifeng has established two sub-centers for county-level medical services and two grassroots centers for chronic disease management, while developing specialized services in traditional Chinese medicine and rehabilitation at township health centers.

County-level specialists also use telemedicine systems to provide electrocardiogram and medical imaging diagnoses for patients in townships. From January to September this year, county-level hospitals issued 40,038 related reports, helping reduce duplicate examinations. Family doctors serving communities at the county, township, and village levels also provide health advice and chronic disease management through WeChat groups and home visits.
By pooling medical resources, Xifeng is developing a healthcare model in which serious conditions are treated at county-level hospitals, common illnesses and chronic diseases are managed in townships, and health services reach rural communities, allowing residents to access more convenient care closer to home.
