Xifeng emerges as new summer retreat

Xifeng county in Guizhou – with an average summer temperature of 23 C and forest coverage of nearly 60 percent – is emerging as an appealing destination for summer retreats. Often described by visitors as a "natural air conditioner" and "forest oxygen bar", Xifeng is just 20 minutes by high-speed rail from Guiyang, making it ideal for both weekend getaways and longer stays amid nature and rural life.

Since the beginning of this year, Xifeng has added more than 200 rural accommodation options and over 1,400 beds, bringing the county's total number of homestays to more than 520. Visitors can also use the "Xilyu Xifeng" WeChat applet to book accommodation and check scenic attractions, making a cool and relaxing stay in Xifeng even more convenient.

A summer stay in Xifeng offers more than just an escape from the heat. History and culture buffs can explore the Xifeng Concentration Camp Revolutionary History Memorial Museum. Those seeking relaxation can indulge in hot springs and traditional Chinese medicine wellness treatments. Outdoor lovers can adventure in Xiwang Mountain and the Wujiang River Gorge with activities like mountain biking, canyon hiking, and camping.

For those seeking a slower pace of rural life, Xifeng offers an expanding selection of distinctive homestays and rural retreat communities. In Qingshan Miao ethnic township, visitors can experience traditional Miao embroidery, batik, and lusheng music and dance.
