Xifeng county in Guiyang, Guizhou province, has capitalized on its ecological strengths to foster distinctive rural homestay tourism by renovating unused rural houses this year. Over 200 new homestays with more than 1,200 beds have been established, drawing visitors looking for a refreshing summer escape.

In Xishan village, the county has adopted a "village collective + company + farmers" model to renovate 11 idle rural houses into 64 guest rooms with 118 beds. The village also provides services including homestay management, food ingredient purchasing, and other conveniences, with most beds already booked for July and August.

Tourists gathered in the courtyard of Wanjuan Shuju homestay in the village on July 23, enjoying local farm dishes and a relaxing rural atmosphere.

"Guests staying here can enjoy three meals a day. If they have special requests, they can let us know in advance, and we will prepare the dishes," said Wang Changfen, the homestay owner. The homestay completed renovations and upgrades in April this year and now offers 12 beds.

"It's very cool here, with fresh air and beautiful scenery. We plan to stay for more than a month, visiting nearby attractions during the day and enjoying farm meals. It's a wonderful experience," said Guo Shengbao, a tourist from Yueyang, Hunan province.
