Xifeng emerges as popular summer retreat destination

Tongcheng Travel released its 2026 Summer Retreat Travel Trends Report on July 17, ranking Guiyang city, Southwest China's Guizhou province, as the top long-distance summer retreat destination in China. With an average summer temperature of 23 C and a forest coverage rate of nearly 60 percent, Xifeng county has attracted an increasing number of visitors seeking a cool summer getaway.

Using its rich red culture, hot springs, ecological resources, and rural landscapes, Xifeng has continued to develop a variety of tourism offerings. These include red tourism experiences, hot spring wellness, rural homestays, and outdoor activities, appealing to visitors of different ages. Since the beginning of this year, the county has newly opened more than 200 homestays, bringing the total number to over 520.

Xiwang Mountain ranks among Xifeng's top summer attractions. Tourist Li Yanfang from Hunan province in Central China has visited Xishan village at the mountain's base for three consecutive summers. The group traveling with her has increased from nine initially to 117 this year. By renovating and utilizing idle rural houses, Xishan village has developed 64 guest rooms with 118 beds, all of which are currently occupied.

In addition, Xifeng continues to upgrade infrastructure and services, offering wellness programs, study tours, camping, and mountain sports. Guests can also access services through the "Xilyu Homestay" WeChat applet, such as booking homestays and obtaining scenic spot information.
