Xifeng county advanced the renovation of old and dilapidated urban housing since 2025, optimizing the city's spatial layout while meeting residents' diverse living needs.
"After the old houses were demolished, not only did the environment improve, but we also gained more places to relax," said Zhou Hongmei, a resident of Nanmen Community in Yongyang subdistrict, on Dec 30, 2025. As renovation projects continue to roll out, the once run-down urban area is quietly being transformed.
So far, Xifeng county has completed the renovation of 299 old and dilapidated urban housing units.

"We carry out renovations based on residents' needs," said Zhou Jiangzhong, a staff member of the Xifeng county housing and urban-rural development bureau.
During the renovation of the Nanshan Forest Farm dormitory buildings in the county, government departments actively collected feedback from residents and incorporated their suggestions into the renovation plans.
Efforts were made not only to address infrastructure problems such as aging electrical systems, clogged pipelines, and outdated facilities, but also to conduct overall planning and design to ensure harmony in both architectural style and functional layout.
According to Zhou, renovated areas were not left idle. In addition to residential housing, some of them were converted into parking lots, leisure squares, and recreational spaces, providing greater convenience for residents while improving land-use efficiency.
