During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–25), Xifeng county has witnessed a strong rise in industrial development.
In 2023, the county's total output value of above-designated-size industries surpassed the 10-billion-yuan ($1.44-billion) mark, and is expected to exceed 15 billion yuan this year.
The added value of industries above designated size doubled ahead of schedule, with an average annual growth rate of 15.6 percent, ranking among the top at both the provincial level for Guizhou and the municipal level for Guiyang. Industry has contributed more than 70 percent to the county's overall economic growth.

Over the past five years, Xifeng has built an industrial cluster led by phosphorus and fluorine chemical industries, with the pharmaceutical sector (chemical drugs) as a key specialty. The county has also expanded into new energy battery materials and the textile printing and dyeing industries, forming a diversified and coordinated industrial system.
During this period, Xifeng introduced 28 industrial projects with a planned total investment of 10.37 billion yuan. At present, the county is home to 48 above-designated-size industrial enterprises, including 11 high-tech enterprises. In 2024, total industrial output value reached 12.2 billion yuan, up 62 percent from the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).
Xifeng Economic Development Zone has played a leading role in this growth. This January, the zone was recognized as both a provincial- and national-level green industrial park.
