Xifeng county has accelerated the construction of a modern water conservancy system to support agricultural development and rural vitalization during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

The Erchahe Reservoir project has reached 72 percent completion since construction began. Both the Jiancaogou and Zhongba reservoirs have passed final inspections, and the Qingsha River Reservoir has completed water storage and gate inspection, with progress at 99 percent. Key water projects, including the Longxuanwo and Longtan reservoirs, are steadily advancing, laying a solid foundation for optimized water resource allocation across the county.

In rural areas, the number of water supply facilities has been streamlined from 268 to 23, increasing large-scale coverage from 46.1 percent to 96.5 percent. With a total investment of 158 million yuan ($22.35 million), these projects benefit residents in Shidong, Liuchang, Wenquan, Jiuzhuang, and other towns.

Water ecology management has been improved. The county has conducted river patrols over 33,000 times, resolved 4,000 river and lake issues, and addressed 41 problems through inspections, resulting in visibly cleaner rivers and lakes.

Water infrastructure has also enhanced agricultural irrigation. Three major irrigation districts now cover an area of more than 69,000 mu (4,500 hectares), and soil and water conservation projects have treated 151.3 square kilometers, ensuring sustainable modern agriculture and supporting rural vitalization.
