Xifeng's annual output of aquatic products increases by 50 percent

The Xifeng county people's government recently highlighted its major achievements in agriculture during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) at a news conference.

The county's total grain-sown area has remained stable at over 200,000 mu (13,333 hectares), with a total grain output of 70,000 metric tons. The comprehensive mechanization rate of major crops has reached 61.1 percent, and high-quality seed coverage for key grain and oil crops has reached 100 percent.

Ecological fisheries have also made rapid progress, with annual aquaculture production increasing 1.5 times compared to the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20). Xifeng county, in collaboration with the team of Liu Shaojun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, has established a provincial high-quality freshwater fish breeding and research base, capable of producing over 100 million fry annually.

Premium fruit production has improved significantly, with annual output reaching 120,000 tons, a 74 percent increase since the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan.

Rural residents' living standards have also risen steadily. The per capita disposable income increased from 17,208 yuan ($2,434) in 2020 to 23,448 yuan in 2024, and is expected to exceed 25,000 yuan in 2025.
