Xifeng County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital has focused on developing its traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) characteristic nursing clinic and its provincially designated key orthopedics department since the beginning of this year, continuously improving the quality of medical services.

Located on the second floor, the nursing clinic has set up consultation and treatment rooms and can serve up to 12 patients at a time. It offers more than 10 types of TCM therapies, including acupuncture, cupping, and guasha (a popular treatment for sunstroke by scraping the patient). Lu Ying, the clinic's head nurse, explained that these treatments can help unblock patients' meridians and regulate their vital energy and blood.

The orthopedics department has 28 medical staff members, with senior professionals accounting for 14.3 percent. It is equipped with X-ray systems and arthroscopes, along with TCM-oriented devices such as thermal-magnetic therapy instruments. These resources allow the department to provide one-stop postoperative rehabilitation, including pain relief, swelling reduction, and functional recovery.

From January to September, the clinic recorded 17,389 outpatient visits – an increase of 1,934 year-on-year – along with 1,981 inpatients and a bed occupancy rate of 97 percent. A total of 980 surgeries were performed, including total knee and hip replacements, and spinal operations.

"I've had knee pain for years, and coming here for surgery was absolutely the right decision!" said a patient surnamed Cai, who recently received a total knee replacement. He was able to walk with assistance on the second day post-surgery and, with topical medication and structured rehabilitation training, achieved 90 degrees of knee flexion by day four.

Chen Jianyang, chief of the orthopedics department, noted that the department integrates TCM techniques into modern surgical treatments, further enhancing clinical outcomes and accelerating patient recovery.
