Since the beginning of this year, Xifeng county in Guiyang has implemented four measures to fully protect its forestry resources.
This year, Xifeng has continued implementing the natural forest management and protection project, managing 744,000 mu (49,600 hectares) of natural forests. The county hired 17 forest rangers, 40 full-time forest protection personnel, and 1,083 ecological forest guards to ensure that natural forest management and protection is implemented down every mountain and plot. No major ecological destruction incidents (Level I, II, or III) have occurred.
The county actively cooperated with the Guiyang forestry bureau to design the implementation plan, selection materials, acceptance documents, and related tasks for the Wujang River Basin Rocky Desertification Comprehensive Management and Water Source Conservation Ecological Restoration Project. As a result, 15,000 mu of degraded forests in Xifeng have been restored.
Xifeng conducted more than 20 forest fire prevention publicity activities this year. Over 30,000 fire prevention brochures were distributed, and publicity vehicles made over 120 rounds. More than 44,000 fire prevention commitment letters were signed, 425 forest fire prevention checkpoints were established, and 4,558 mu of combustible materials under the forest were cleared. This year, Xifeng did not experience any forest fires.
Efforts have also been made to monitor forest pests, and prevent and control forest diseases. As of now, Xifeng has not experienced any disasters, and no area has been affected.
