Agricultural machinery and infrastructure are critical foundations for advancing agricultural technology and accelerating modernization. They are also essential components for enhancing grain production capacity.
Xifeng county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has continued to elevate agricultural mechanization levels and improve agricultural infrastructure.
The county now has 12,360 units of agricultural machinery for plowing, planting, management, and harvesting. The comprehensive mechanization rate for major crops is expected to exceed 61 percent this year.
In 2024, Xifeng planned a total investment of 47.83 million yuan ($6.72 million) to implement the large-scale rural water supply project in Shidong town. It continued to advance rural water supply projects in three towns, benefiting 35,644 people.
As of Oct 11, Xifeng has completed 31 rural water supply projects, covering 248,600 rural residents at a coverage rate of 95.48 percent, leading the city in rural water supply coverage.
Xifeng is advancing three major irrigation projects in the central Xifeng, Gaodong Reservoir, and Yanglongsi irrigation areas. As of Oct 11, overall project progress has reached 87.03 percent. Upon completion, the projects will improve irrigation capacity for over 69,000 mu (4,600 hectares) of farmland in 58 administrative villages across six townships, alleviating irrigation issues and significantly boosting grain production in the project areas.
