The 5th Guizhou Martial Arts Elite Competition 2024 successfully concluded on Aug 9. A total of 21 students from Tai Chi Class 1 and Class 2 of the Senior University of Xifeng county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, participated in the event to compete alongside over 800 martial artists from 48 teams from across the country, winning several awards.
The competition featured 139 categories across six major divisions: fist forms, tai chi, weapon forms, tai chi weapon forms, sparring and group performances. The event covered all age groups, with awards given for individual performances, sparring events and group performances.
The Senior University of Xifeng competed in Group J of the tai chi division. Participants showcased graceful and fluid movements set to beautiful music, demonstrating the elegance and essence of tai chi with their refined skills and earning rounds of applause from the audience.
After intense competition, the Tai Chi Class 1 team won third place for all three of its group performances, while Tai Chi Class 2 secured second place in the group category. In the individual events, the team won one first-place, three second-place, and six third-place awards.
Additionally, the competition presented six special awards, including the "Chinese Martial Arts Inheritor Award" and "Outstanding Coach Award". Thanks to their excellent performance and sportsmanship, the Senior University of Xifeng's team also received the "Martial Arts Promotion Award" and the "Sportsmanship Award".
