Fish-lotus farming base brings prosperity to Xifeng village

The fish-lotus farming base in Xinglong village of Xifeng county recently celebrated a bountiful harvest of rice field fish, which are now being sold on the market.

Xinglong village, nestled in the mountains and home to abundant high-quality water sources, provides ideal conditions for rice field fish farming.

In recent years, the village has been utilizing villagers' idle land to create a 50-mu (3.33 hectares) fish-lotus farming base which employs an ecological farming method of natural growth, contributing to the village's economic development.

"In June 2022, we introduced around 2,250 kg of large fish fry, followed by about 10,000 small fry. We sold part of the harvest last year, and now we are selling more, with over 750 kg sold recently." said Liu Deyao, the first secretary stationed in Xinglong village.

We expect a total yield of over 3,000 kg this year, generating an income of more than 70,000 yuan ($9,589.04), Liu added.
