The festival featured traditional activities such as ancestor worship and folk songs, alongside various cultural and artistic performances. Dressed in festive attire, Miao villagers and visitors joined in the joyful celebrations, filling the square with music and dance. The lively atmosphere was further enhanced by unique Miao dances like the Lusheng dance and the bamboo dance, performed by Miao men and women in their colorful traditional costumes.

The Tiaochang Festival, also known as the Miao ethnic group's "Valentine's Day", is a time for courtship, matchmaking and cultural exchanges. It involves singing competitions, traditional dances, and opportunities for Miao people to connect with friends and family.

With a long history and rich cultural significance, the Tiaochang Festival was inscribed on the provincial intangible cultural heritage list in 2014. This vibrant folk event is a testament to the unique traditions and customs of the Miao ethnic group in Guiyang.
