Xifeng villagers feast on tourism opportunities

Luwo village in Xifeng county, Guiyang, has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years, thanks to the government's rural governance initiative that focuses on improving housing, sanitation, waste management, toilets, and social customs.

The village has seen significant improvement in its living environment, attracting a large number of visitors, especially during the annual blooming of rapeseed flowers. This has spurred the development of local tourism.

Mu Wenxiang, a villager, has witnessed these positive changes. He notes that the village's beautification and the popularity of rapeseed cultivation have boosted its attractiveness as a tourist destination. 

Mu opened the village's first snack shop after being inspired by the influx of tourists during last year's rapeseed bloom and a trial running race. His decision has proved fruitful, with daily earnings ranging from 200 ($27.6) to 500 yuan, a substantial supplement to his income from farming.

Recognizing the potential of spring flower viewing, the Xifeng bureau of culture and tourism will host the 6th Xiwang Mountain Trial Running Race on March 23 in Luwo village. The event aims to further promote rural tourism in the area. Over 10 guesthouses in the village are already fully booked, with over 1,000 runners and other visitors expected to come to the village.
