The launch ceremony for a national water and soil conservation project was recently held in Xifeng county, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The project will focus on a total of 14.76 square kilometers of land that suffers from water and soil loss. It will implement individual conservation plans based on the needs and wishes of local residents.

According to the project's construction plan, people will be banned from entering about 11.21 sq km of the conserved areas. Additionally, 216 sets of polluted water processing equipment will be installed to help improve the water quality in affected areas.

Some 1,185 meters of rural roads will be built to improve transportation conditions. Irrigation systems and updated facilities will also be put in place in an existing industrial park within the scope of the project.
