This year, Lyuhua village in Qingshan Miao ethnic township, Xifeng county has reaped great benefits from growing chrysanthemums.
Taking advantage of the local climate, soil, and other natural conditions, the village has adopted a development model combining "village collective + enterprise + farmers" to cultivate chrysanthemums. Enterprises provide unified training in cultivation techniques, and local residents participate in chrysanthemum cultivation through methods such as land shares or leasing.
Ye Quan, assistant director of the village, said that this year, the village has cultivated over 200 mu (13.33 hectares) of chrysanthemums, with seven harvests per year. The expected production of 40,000 kilograms will generate a total value of 2.4 million yuan ($334,080), contributing to an increase of over 400,000 yuan in residents' incomes.
In addition, chrysanthemum cultivation has boosted local employment and incomes for local idle labor.
So far, the township has spent 1.03 million yuan building a 448-square-meter chrysanthemum drying facility.
Meanwhile, the village committee coordinated with the Dizhai Power Supply Station to install a dedicated transformer, eliminating potential electricity overload hazards during the chrysanthemum drying process.
Ye stated that they will seek policy support and continue with chrysanthemum cultivation and processing to strengthen and expand the chrysanthemum industry.
